"New" 1985 La Pavoni Europiccola!
$825.00

If a new La Pavoni Europiccola costs $1,100 dollars in 2026, how much should a new La Pavoni Europiccola from 1985 cost?
It's the kind of problem we deal with all the time in the Underground. Figuring out the "value" of things that are basically impossible to "compare."
Since nearly everyone acknowledges La Pavoni build quality has declined over the years, after perhaps peaking in the '70s, shouldn't a new machine from the end of that "peak" era be worth more than a machine built today?
Of course it should. But we're being "realistic" at the same time.
So we've priced this new 1985 Europiccola somewhere in the middle of what it actually should be worth.
Because we don't have the box, or the instruction manual, etc. (Although we DO have cool typewriter written instructions, likely from Thomas Cara, the legendary Pavoni dealer here in SF.)
We also don't have any rust, scratches, dings, coffee residue, wobbles, chrome flaking, sketchy switch or electrical wiring, peeling logo, play in the handle, and on and on. It's genuinely "new."
The machine was bought as a wedding gift in 1986, put on a kitchen shelf, and forgotten about. Until the original owner's had to move and downsize 40 years later, and we were lucky enough to hear about it, and get our hands on it!
This is only the second time we've been that lucky with a Pavoni. And it's not because we don't try to find 'em!
Full disclosure: It HAS been "used," about five or six times! The rubber seals were hard from sitting for 40 years, so we had to take it apart and replace those, lube everything, and then make sure it worked, right? So not gonna lie. We test drove it a couple mornings. How could a true leverhead resist a toy like this sitting in plain view?
But for all practical purposes, this a "new" classic era La Pavoni Europiccola. And it looks and feels like it.
Get one while you can.
