Gaggia ("America?") Espresso Grinder
$475.00
Out of stock
Not positive what nomenclature Gaggia used for these, because there's very little public info on them. We're going with "America" for now. (Matching their espresso line of the era.) A rare vintage commercial grinder that runs on 110 volts.
Ironically, not many of these actually made it to America!
Build quality and function is similar to a Mazzer, but the styling is obviously quite different than the "cold and efficient" look that European commercial grinders have adopted since the 70s.
The orange color is awesome, even if wearing thin in spots where the green undercoat is visible below. Evocative of 50s/60s Italian design when it still had a hint of "Deco.".
The doser is from the end of an era, when dosers were chrome plated steel, and operated like a clock.
This almost certainly came with a glass hopper originally. Unfortunately long gone, but the plastic one fits like a glove.
The burrs are new, and 64mm.
It's a beast. Still heavy duty enough to work in a modern shop. So should last forever in a home environment.
We've been holding onto her for a long time, hoping to pair with another orange Gaggia lever, like the two previous ones we shoulda kept! But haven't been lucky enough to find another, so reluctantly letting her go back into the espresso underground.
